Chief
Master Sgt. Christine A. Taylor
is Command Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Reserve Command's
349th Air Mobility Wing, located at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.
As Command Chief Master Sergeant, she is responsible for advising
the commander on the health, welfare, morale and discipline of
the largest Air Force Reserve Associate division in the nation.
Born a twin, to an active duty Army dad and a telephone
operator mom, in the Bronx, N.Y., Chief Taylor and her family
moved at the early age of two, to the borough of Queens, N.Y.,
where she grew up. She began her military career just one year
after graduating from high school in the delayed entry program,
reporting for Army basic training in August 1975. After basic
military training at Fort McClellan, Ala., she went to Fort Gordon,
Ga., where she began her training in electronics and avionics.
Her first assignment was to the 478th Aviation Company, Fort
Benning, Ga., as crew member on the CH-54 Skycrane "Tarhe",
UH-1D Huey "Slicks" and CH-47 Chinook as avionics radio
and radar flight systems specialist. After completing her first
tour of active duty, she transitioned from the Army after a one
year break in service and started her Air Force Reserve career
in January 1980. Her first Air Force Reserve assignment was
as a C-141B Starlifter, avionics radar flight control systems
specialist at the 514th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 305th
Air Military Wing, McGuire AFB, N.J. One year later she transferred
to the 349th Avionics Maintenance Squadron, 349th Air Mobility
Wing, Travis AFB, Calif. There she worked as an avionics specialist
on the C-5 Galaxy, C-141B Starlifter and the C-130. She soon
took an opportunity to cross-train with the 47th Aerial Port
Squadron, where she became a total force transporter, working
as a passenger service agent, cargo specialist, ramp services
supervisor and finally, first sergeant. In 1991 the 47th APS
flag was retired and Chief Taylor was reassigned to the 82nd
Aerial Port Squadron. Soon after her transfer, the 82nd APS was
activated and she proudly volunteered, acting in the first sergeant's
capacity, to ease the transition of her unit members and their
spouses during their support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert
Storm. During her time at the 82nd APS she also acted as superintendent
of passenger service, superintendent of special handling, superintendent
of the air transportation operations center and as aerial port
operations chief. Additionally, she has served with the 349th
AMW Chief's Group 2005 -2007, as president of the 82nd APS Top
Three Council 2000-2004 and as lead facilitator for the 349th
AMW Franklin Covey since 2005. Chief Taylor has actively served
on wing and 4th Air Force Promotion for Exceptional Performers'
boards, annual awards, first sergeant of the year and 'Look Sharp'
award boards. She has served as guest speaker, emcee and project
consultant for such events as the 349th Wing Enlisted Workshop,
349th and Travis Chiefs' Group Induction and Recognition Ceremony,
and the Honorary Chief Induction Recognition Banquet. Before
being selected as the 349th AMW Command Chief Master Sergeant
in October 2007, Chief Taylor served as 82nd APS air transportation
manager.
