Two locations will be celebrating this Golden Anniversary of the Chief Master Sergeants Stripe on 1 Dec 2009.

If you are in contact with any of these forefathers or have information that will assist us in our quest to contact these folks, please contact: CMSgt(Ret) Andy Anderson at 937-572-6594 or by e-mail at andersja@clearwire.net.

The celebrations will be held at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio (the National Museum of the United States Air Force). Guest Speakers and event details are being arranged at this time. If you know of one of these pioneers, please let us know so we can make arrangements for them to attend one of these ceremonies.

On December 1, 1959, and June 1, 1960, our Air Force promoted the first individuals to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. We are attempting to find the original 625 Chiefs and invite them to help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of this milestone in enlisted history. There are 60 known Charter Chiefs living out of the 625 originally promoted. This Golden Anniversary of the Chief Master Sergeants will be celebrated on December 1, 2009, at many bases with the primary celebration at Barksdale AFB, La. Guest Speakers and event details are being arranged at this time. If you are in contact with any of these forefathers or have information that will assist us in our quest to contact these retired chiefs, please contact: CMSgt (Ret) Andy Anderson at 937-572-6594 or by e-mail at andersja@clearwire.net.

Regarding Chief Maksyumk's message about the legacy coins... I have one left in my shadow box. Wish I could help you out but those are rare collector's items by now. Speaking of, and without getting into a rigorous debate, I personally prefer the old stripes -- they represented more. Of course, I'm a 1967 -- 1997 retiree, so I'm not biased, am I?

I'm looking to find an older Chief coin with the old stripes. I want it for my shadow box. If anyone knows where I can buy one please let me know via email. Thanks for anything you may be able to do!

Interesting Site. Did not see any names on the message board that I could recall. I was a Communicator from 1948-1975. Belong to the AF Communicators & Air Traffic Controllers Association, where we have many ex comm & atc Chiefs.
